  VISIT FROM THE KING   On May 26, 2025 [1] , King Charles III arrived in Ottawa with his wife, Queen Camilla, for his first visit since his coronation. This visit was intended to be strategic, organized in the midst of a tariff war and the threat of annexation by the US government. The visit ended the following day with the Speech from the Throne, followed by a visit to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the return to Ottawa's MacDonald-Cartier International Airport. Mixed feelings about royalty This visit aroused a variety of feelings in the population: joy among monarchists, cynicism among independentists, indifference among others, then satisfaction among non-monarchists for whom this visit is welcome for the message it conveys about Canada's sovereignty.   VISITE DU ROI   Le 26 mai 2025, le roi Charles III est arrivé à Ottawa avec son épouse, la reine Camilla, pour une première visite depuis son couronnement. Cette visite se voulait stratégique et organisée en contexte de guerre tarifaire et de menace d’annexion de la part du gouvernement américain. Cette visite s’est terminé le lendemain avec le « discours du Trône », suivi d’une visite à la Tombe du soldat inconnu, et du retour à l’aéroport international MacDonald-Cartier d’Ottawa. Sentiments divers à l’égard de la royauté Cette visite a suscité des sentiments divers au sein de la population : joie chez les monarchistes, cynisme des indépendantistes, indifférence chez d’autres, puis satisfaction chez des non-monarchistes pour qui cette visite est bienvenue pour le message qu’elle transmet su la souveraineté du Canada.
